Frequently asked questions

How do I restore my purchases?

In the app, go to Settings → Restore Purchases. Your City Pack unlock is tied to your Apple ID, so it restores automatically on any device signed in to the same Apple ID — for example after reinstalling the app or getting a new iPhone.

Credits for AI features are consumable points. In line with Apple's policy, consumables can't be restored or transferred across devices once they've been delivered to your account.

How does offline access work?

When you save a city or a route, its content is stored on your device and stays available without a connection — the 60-second read, saved routes, and your own itinerary. This is handy underground, on planes, or anywhere signal is poor.

AI Route Builder and Ask AI need an internet connection, because your question is processed by an AI service. Everything you've already saved keeps working offline.

How do I delete my data?

ChinaHappens has no accounts or logins. Your itineraries, saved places, and notes live on your device, so deleting the app removes that local data from the device.

We also keep a small amount of anonymous data on our servers — an anonymous device identifier used for purchases and credit accounting, and text you submitted to AI features (retained for content-safety review). To request deletion of that server-side data, email support@chinahappens.com and we'll take care of it.

Can I trust the AI answers?

AI suggestions are generated from the same human-verified content library that powers the city guides, which keeps them grounded and relevant.

Even so, they're suggestions — not guarantees. Details that change often, such as opening hours, ticketing, closures, and reservations, should be confirmed from official sources before you travel.

What does the free version include?

Chongqing is completely free — the full 60-second read, places, food, sample routes, and offline saving. For other cities you can browse the title and cover for free; a one-time in-app City Pack purchase unlocks their full content.

Do I need to create an account?

No. ChinaHappens works with no sign-up and no login. The app uses an anonymous device identifier so purchases and credits work without you giving us any personal details.
